Based on two new studies published in the journal Nature, study author Dan Rader, MD, professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at Penn, tells the LA Times how his collaborative team of researchers identified 95 DNA regions associated with cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Of those regions, 59 had not previously been identified and may, with further research, lead to new treatment options. According to Dr. Rader "It's a goldmine of new discovery."
